How to loop part of a YouTube video
YouTube has no built-in way to repeat just one part of a video. YouTube Loop does it in your browser: paste a link, choose where the loop starts and ends, and it repeats until you stop it. It is free and needs no account or install.
Loop a section in four steps
- Copy the link of the YouTube video. The address bar, the Share button and short
youtu.belinks all work. - Open YouTube Loop, paste the link into the box at the top and press Load.
- Drag the two handles on the timeline to mark where the loop starts and ends. Scroll over the timeline to zoom in for precise edges, or type exact times such as
1:23.5in the Start and End boxes. - Press play. When the video reaches the end handle it jumps back to the start. Use the loop button (or L) to turn looping on and off.
Get the edges exactly right
Zoom in until the handles are easy to place, then use the −1, −.1, +.1 and +1 buttons to nudge them by tenths of a second. Set to playhead copies the current moment into the start or the end: play until the right spot, then press [ or ].
Keep the loops you like
Give a section a name and press Save. Saved sections are listed under the video and in the Library, so you can come back to them any time. Share copies a link that opens the same video and section, which is handy for sending a part to a friend or a student. Everything is stored in your own browser; nothing is uploaded.
Everything it can do
- Loop any section. Drag the start and end handles on a timeline you can zoom and pan, or type exact times.
- Fine control. Nudge the edges by 1 or 0.1 seconds, or set them to the current playhead position.
- Speed from 0.25× to 2×. The pitch is kept, so music stays in tune.
- Step through a song. The previous and next buttons move the loop forward or back by its own length.
- Saved sections. Name the parts you practise and keep them per video; the Library lists every video you have used.
- Chapters. When a video has chapters in its description, they appear as ready-made sections you can save in one go.
- Share a loop. One link opens the same video, the same section and your saved sections.
- Keyboard shortcuts. Play, change section, set start and end, loop and fullscreen; the full list is in the FAQ.
- Phone and desktop. On phones the controls dock at the bottom of the screen, and there is a fullscreen mode.
- Light and dark themes, in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
- Installable. Add it to your home screen and it opens like an app.
- Free and private. No account and no ads; your saved sections stay in your browser.
Good to know
- The loop is accurate to roughly a twentieth of a second. That is plenty for practising, but it is not sample-accurate.
- Some videos have embedding turned off by their owner. YouTube refuses to play those outside its own site, so they cannot be loaded here.
