YouTube Loop

Frequently asked questions

Short answers about how YouTube Loop works.

Try it with an example video

Is YouTube Loop free?

Yes. There are no ads, no account and no limits. If it helps you, there is an optional tip button (Ko-fi, or Pix in Brazil).

Do I need an account or to install anything?

No. It runs in your browser on desktop and on phones. You can also add it to your home screen or install it from your browser menu, and it then opens like an app.

Which videos work?

Any video that can be embedded in other sites. If the owner turned embedding off, YouTube refuses to play it here.

Does slowing a video down change the pitch?

No. YouTube keeps the pitch when you play slower or faster, so music stays in tune.

Where are my saved sections stored?

In your browser, on your device. They are not sent to a server, so they do not follow you to other devices, and clearing the site data removes them. Use Share to move a loop to another device.

How do I share a loop?

Press Share. It copies a link to the video, the current section and your saved sections for that video.

Which keyboard shortcuts are there?

  • Space play or pause
  • ← → previous or next section
  • [ ] set the start or the end at the playhead
  • L loop on or off
  • F fullscreen
  • ↑ ↓ previous or next saved section

How accurate is the loop?

About a twentieth of a second. That is plenty for practising, but it is not sample-accurate.

What about privacy?

YouTube Loop sets no cookies and has no accounts. Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies. The embedded player is YouTube’s own and is covered by YouTube’s privacy policy.

Is it affiliated with YouTube?

No. It is an independent tool that uses YouTube’s official embedded player.

Which languages does it support?

English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. It follows your browser’s language, and you can change it from the menu in the header.
